As you have probably already seen, our calculators help you in every aspect of life.

This calculator is helpful for anyone who likes to drink from time to time or thinks that they have a disorder caused by alcohol consumption. After you use our calculator, you can know your exact Audit-C result and whether you have any alcohol-related problem or not. The only information our calculator needs is how often you drink and how much.

Who can use the Audit-C calculator?

This calculator can be used by anyone concerned about their drinking habits and health. This is the most straightforward way to objectively see if you have a problem or a disorder with alcohol. Of course, we can’t solve your problems for you, so if your result comes out above average, you should probably seek medical help and treatment. But you can use this measurement as a starting point for your health improvement.

How much can I drink safely?

It would benefit you if you always had moderation with everything in life. This also applies to drinks containing alcohol. However, there is not a specific number of drinks that is safe for every person. It depends on your age, gender, weight, and alcohol resistance. So keep in mind that the information we present to you in this text doesn’t necessarily suit you.

Recommended alcohol intake for men is less than four drinks a day and less than 14 drinks per week. This doesn’t mean that you should drink four alcohol-containing beverages every day because that way, you will come up to 28 drinks in a week. If you want to drink, experts recommend dividing those 14 drinks into seven days in a week.

Many research has shown that it is easier for women to develop a drinking disorder. Recommended daily alcohol intake for women is three or fewer drinks in a day and seven or fewer drinks in a week. As we already said, this doesn’t mean that a woman should drink three glasses every day but to split those seven drinks into seven days.

Audit-C criteria

As we already said, the Audit-C calculation is done based on the amount and frequency of your alcohol intake. The Audit-C is scaled on a scale of 0-13. If your result is 0, it means that there is no alcohol use. We will talk about the meaning of the results more later, but for now, it is enough that you know the most simple thing. A higher score means a higher chance of alcohol disorder.

How to calculate my Audit-C score?

The number one thing about calculating your Audit-C score is being honest with yourself. The easiest way to calculate your Audit-C score is by downloading our calculator at “https://calconcalculator.com/” or simply using the online version. This calculation consists of answering three simple questions honestly. Each answer carries a certain amount of points that add up to the final score. Fortunately, the calculator that we developed adds up all of the points on its own and even tells you you are at risk.

Audit-C questionnaire

As we have already said a dozen times, this questionnaire consists of 3 simple questions. Those questions are:

  • How often do you drink alcohol?
  • How many drinks did you have on an average drinking day?
  • How often did you have six or more drinks at once?

Each of these questions can bring you 0-4 points depending on your answer. The essential thing about answering these questions is being honest. Don’t worry; no one will judge you based on your answer, and if you lie, you are only lying to yourself.

Audit-C score interpretation

As we already said, our calculator immediately tells you if you are at any risk from alcohol intake. But if you want to find out what your specific score means, here it is.

  • A score that is three or lower indicates an average alcohol use. Therefore, you should try to keep your drinking at this level, and there is nothing to worry about.
  • If your score equals 4 or 5, that means that you are in a moderate risk category. This score isn’t great, but it doesn’t indicate a drinking problem. But if you feel that it is getting worse, you should seek professional help.
  • If your score is anywhere from 6-13, that means that you are in the severe risk category. Of course, a score of 7 and 13 doesn’t mean the same thing and aren’t dangerous on the same level, but anyway, you should seek some help. Even if you are in this range, there is nothing to be ashamed of; we think it is excellent that you recognized the problem and that you are trying to get rid of it.

Alcoholism signs and withdrawal symptoms

Since we were six years old, alcohol has had no good effects as we all studied in school. If you have moderation with it, you can be unharmed. But most people can’t find moderation, and they let alcohol harm and rule them. Doctors like to say that it has a depressive effect on your organism.

If you are curious if you suffer from alcoholism, we will now present you with a couple of signs of this disease. After that, we will show you some alcohol withdrawal symptoms, which is, of course, far better than any of the alcohol related disorders.

Alcoholism is a serious disease that hits a large percentage of people. It is often effortless to recognize when someone suffers from this hazardous disease. Signs are usually more mental than physical. A person that suffers from an alcohol disorder is generally uninterested in usual activities. Depression and anxiety are also related to disorders with alcohol consumption. The more dangerous thing about this disorder is that they can’t say no to alcohol and need more significant doses over time to feel the same effect. Many patients got these disorders because they were trying to cover up their problems with alcohol use.

After alcohol-related disorder patients decide that it is time to quit alcohol, they experience different effects that change over time. They usually have headaches, nausea, anxiety, and excessive sweating in the beginning. As time passes, the symptoms worsen, and a simple headache can turn into a fever, high blood pressure or even something worse. But in the end, all of these expire, and you become a better and healthier person.

Drinking limits

If you want to drink alcohol containing beverages, you should have moderation. Of course, the amount of alcohol a person can drink varies, but there are some limits that you should not pass. In this text, we mentioned that those limits are 14 drinks in a week for men and 7 for a woman. Even if it’s some special occasion, you should not go far past these recommendations. Maybe you don’t get it, but going over these limits does put you in danger and the people around you. A person intoxicated with alcohol doesn’t only cause trouble to itself but is also hazardous to the people close to them.

I’m worried about my result. Am I an alcoholic?

If you are reading this right now, that means that you are worried about your habits and health. If your Audit-C score is too high, don’t panic. You are a human, and it’s normal for humans to do something wrong. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you are an alcoholic, but it means that you have some problem. Seeking professional care and treatment in these situations is crucial. We advise you to slowly start removing alcohol from your routine and take alcohol breaks. It won’t be easy, but we promise you that it is worth the effort.

AUDIT alcohol screen

Audit-C is a test developed from a more serious one, AUDIT. This test consists of 10 questions, and it is also easy and effective. The purpose of this test is the same as the Audit-C one. It tries to detect alcohol disorders, but it is a bit more thorough. Because the test gives you better, more precise screening, it also requires more honesty.
